Almonte Placed on DL, Dogs Add Baldridge

CHARLESTON, SC – The New York Yankees announced Thursday that RiverDogs OF Abraham Almonte has been placed on the seven-day disabled list with an upper body injury retroactive to 6/3/09. Taking his place on the active roster is Costal Carolina product, OF Tommy Baldridge, who was transferred from Class-A Advanced Tampa.

Almonte has a .267 (43x161) batting average with one home run and 17 RBI in 44 games with the RiverDogs. The native of Santo Domingo has also hit four doubles, three triples, scored 23 runs, and stole 12 bases.

Baldridge, a native of Fort Mill, SC, began the season with the Class-A Advanced Tampa Yankees and appeared in 17 games where he hit .204 (10x49) with two doubles and two stolen bases. The 6-1 outfielder, was selected in the 33rd round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft out Coastal Carolina University.  While at Coastal Carolina, Baldridge was named 2007 Big South Tournament MVP and All-Big South First Team.
